What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a medical-grade aesthetic procedure that involves using the Skin Pen device with fine needles to create tiny, controlled punctures (micro-injuries) in the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process, which includes the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that are essential for maintaining the skin’s youthful appearance and elasticity.

This treatment can not only be performed on the face but can be safely performed on the neck area AND hands as well!

What happens during a mirconeedling appointment?

As with each skincare treatment, if you have not already had a skincare consult – we’ll complete a thorough evaluation of you skin’s condition and make sure that microneedling is the right fit for you.

From there you can expect the following:

  1. Cleansing: The skin is cleansed and prepared to ensure it’s free from makeup, dirt, and oils.

  2. Numbing: A topical numbing cream will be applied to minimize discomfort.

  3. Microneedling with SkinPen begins.

  4. Application of serums or topical treatments: After microneedling, topical serums or growth factors are applied to the skin. The microchannels created by the needles allow for better absorption of these products.

For even better results – patients may consider microneedling with PRP.

Why Microneedling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

Simply put, PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma – takes your treatment to the next level and provides better results and less downtime.

Platelet Rich Plasma is a substance that is derived from your own blood. It contains a high concentration of platelets, which are blood cells that play a crucial role in the body’s healing process. PRP is created by taking a small amount of your blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the other components of the blood. Then it’s applied to your skin allowing the PRP to penetrate the small pin-pricks made during microneedling. It’s also applied after the treatment and messaged in.

Recovery time is decreased, redness and swelling post treatment is lessened, and results are increased!
